The treatment of cystic acne is as follows:
a. Take retinoids by mouth
Get a prescription of isotretinoin from your nearest dermatologist. This is the mainstay of cystic acne treatment. It is usually taken for 4 to 5 months. It has many side effects which include dry lips, depression, joint pains and birth defects.
b. Use an anti-acne face wash twice a day
Use an antiseptic wash to wash your face twice a day. An example is Clean and Clear Face Wash.
c. Apply an acne treatment moisturizer in the morning
Apply an oil-free moisturizer that contains ingredients like salicylic acid to your face after washing it in the morning. A good example is Clean and Clear Oil Free Moisturizer with 0.5% Salicylic Acid.
